Tour Plan

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Drâa Valley – Zagora

Your desert adventure begins with a 7:30 am pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Leave the city behind and travel south through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, following the winding road towards the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of rugged mountain peaks, deep valleys and traditional Amazigh villages.

Continue towards Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a leisurely walk through the historic ksar, exploring its traditional earthen architecture, narrow lanes and impressive kasbahs.

After your visit, continue to Ouarzazate, where you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue south across the Tizi n’Tnifift Pass, reaching around 1,710 metres, before travelling through the village of Ait Saoun. This historic route was once used by transSaharan caravans travelling between Morocco and destinations deep in the Sahara.

Continue to Agdez, an important gateway to the magnificent Drâa Valley. From here, the landscape becomes increasingly lush, with a succession of spectacular palm groves, traditional villages and ancient kasbahs stretching along the valley. Discover views of the famous Kasbah Tamnougalt and the surrounding palm oases.

As you continue towards Zagora, the landscape gradually transforms into a striking pre-Saharan environment of rocky plateaus and lunar-like terrain.

Arrive in Zagora, where your camel trek begins. Ride across the desert landscape towards your camp, enjoying the changing colours of the dunes as the afternoon light fades.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner at the camp before spending the night in comfortable nomadic-style tents beneath the stars.

Overnight: Desert camp near Zagora

Day 2: Zagora – Drâa Valley – Ouarzazate – Tizi n'Tichka – Marrakech

Wake early to experience a spectacular sunrise over the desert. As the first light reaches across the landscape, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Zagora dunes before returning to camp for breakfast.

After breakfast, climb back onto your camels and ride back to the meeting point, where your driver will be waiting.

Begin the journey back towards Marrakech, retracing the route through the beautiful Drâa Valley and continuing to Ouarzazate. Stop in Ouarzazate for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy some free time to relax before continuing north.

In the afternoon, cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains once again via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying the changing scenery as you descend towards Marrakech.

Arrive in Marrakech and transfer directly to your hotel or riad.

Your 2-day Zagora Desert Tour from Marrakech comes to an end, leaving you with unforgettable memories of ancient kasbahs, palm-filled valleys, mountain landscapes and the magic of the Moroccan desert.
