Day 2: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat

After an early breakfast, depart Marrakech and travel north towards Rabat, Morocco’s capital, with a stop in Casablanca along the way. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, depending on traffic and stops. In Casablanca, visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of Morocco’s most impressive architectural landmarks, dramatically positioned overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your journey to Rabat. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure.

Overnight: Hotel in Rabat

Day 3: Rabat – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, begin a guided tour of Rabat, exploring the city’s rich history and architectural heritage.

Visit the ancient Chellah, a fascinating archaeological site surrounded by historic walls and gardens, followed by the atmospheric Kasbah of the Oudayas, overlooking the Bou Regreg River and Atlantic coast.

After the guided tour, enjoy some free time to explore the souks and traditional shops of Rabat’s old medina. Later, relax at the famous Café Maure, overlooking the Bou Regreg River, and enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea accompanied by local pastries such as Kaab Ghazal and Ghriba.

Continue towards Fes, stopping en route at Volubilis, Morocco’s best-preserved Roman archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a knowledgeable local guide, explore the ancient ruins, mosaics and remains that reveal the history of the Roman and Berber civilizations that once flourished here.

Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s historic imperial cities. Founded and greatly expanded under Sultan Moulay Ismail, Meknes was envisioned as a grand royal capital sometimes compared with Versailles. Visit the impressive Bab El Mansour, one of Morocco’s most celebrated monumental gates, before continuing your journey to Fes.

Overnight: Hotel/Riad in Fes

Day 4: Exploring Fes

After breakfast, set out with your local guide to discover Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart and a former capital of the kingdom. The day’s exploration focuses on the extraordinary Fes Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded in the 9th century and home to Al Quaraouiyine, traditionally regarded as one of the world’s oldest continuously operating institutions of higher learning. Wander through the maze of historic streets and discover some of the city’s most remarkable landmarks, including Bou Inania Medersa, Attarine Medersa, the traditional tanneries, Nejjarine Square, the woodworkers’ souk, Seffarine Square, the Moulay Idriss II shrine, and the historic Mellah, Fes’s former Jewish quarter. To make the experience even more memorable, take part in a traditional Moroccan pottery workshop with a master potter and discover the craftsmanship behind one of the country’s most distinctive artistic traditions.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you can either return to your accommodation to relax or continue exploring the atmospheric streets of the old medina independently.

Overnight: Hotel/Riad in Fes

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane, known for its Alpine-style architecture and cool mountain climate, before continuing towards Midelt, surrounded by spectacular mountain landscapes.

Continue to Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara and a region renowned for its remarkable fossils and geological discoveries.

Enjoy lunch along the way before arriving at Ait Benhaddou, a beautifully preserved ksar of earthen buildings and winding alleys. The site has become one of Morocco’s most recognizable landmarks and has also provided the backdrop for numerous international film and television productions.
