Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Casablanca Airport, you will be met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, the remainder of the day is free to relax and recover from your journey.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Fes

Today marks the beginning of your Best of Morocco adventure. Leave the modern energy of Casablanca behind and travel towards Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital and one of the country’s historic imperial cities.

During your visit, make stops at some of Rabat’s most important landmarks, discovering the city’s fascinating history and distinctive architecture. Continue eastwards through the Moroccan countryside towards Fes, one of the country’s most atmospheric and culturally significant cities.

Arrive in Fes and settle into your accommodation.

Day 3: Exploring Fes

Today, step back in time as you explore the extraordinary Fes el Bali, the city’s ancient medina and one of the world’s largest car-free urban areas.

With your local guide, enter a maze of narrow streets filled with traditional workshops, spice stalls, artisan shops and historic buildings. Discover architectural treasures including the beautifully restored Bou Inania Medersa and the exquisite Attarine Medersa.

Continue to Nejjarine Square and its historic funduq, once a traditional inn for travelling merchants. You will also visit the famous leather tanneries, where traditional techniques have been used for generations and the colourful dyeing pits remain a distinctive part of Fes’s heritage.

Day 4: Fes – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

Today, leave the imperial city of Fes behind and journey towards the vast landscapes of the Sahara Desert.

The route takes you through changing scenery, from rugged mountain landscapes to dramatic valleys, ancient kasbahs and lush palm-filled oases. As you travel south, pass through Erfoud and Rissani, historic gateway towns on the edge of the desert.

Continue towards Merzouga, where the landscape suddenly transforms into the magnificent golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. On arrival, leave your main luggage at the desert camp and climb onto your camel for an unforgettable ride through the dunes. Watch the sun slowly disappear beyond the Sahara horizon before arriving at your camp.

Tonight, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner around the campfire beneath a spectacular canopy of stars, accompanied by the atmosphere and hospitality of the desert.

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Valley

Wake early and climb a nearby dune to witness the spectacular Sahara sunrise as the first light illuminates the surrounding dunes.

After breakfast at camp, leave the desert behind and continue towards the dramatic landscapes of the Todra Valley.

Along the way, stop at the El Khorbat oasis, where you can learn more about the history and traditional architecture of the region. Continue through a landscape of palm-filled oases, ancient mud-brick villages and dramatic rock formations.

Arrive in the Todra Valley, where you will spend the next two nights surrounded by lush palm groves and impressive limestone cliffs.

In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle walk through the surrounding farmland and discover the traditional way of life in the valley.

Day 6: Free Day in the Todra Valley

Today is yours to enjoy the spectacular Todra Valley at your own pace.

For those who want to explore, a guided hike through the surrounding mountains and villages is an excellent option. One of the popular circuits covers approximately 10 kilometres and takes around 4 hours, depending on the pace and conditions.

Follow ancient trails through traditional Amazigh villages, cross mountain paths and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding valleys and towards the Rose Valley.

A highlight of the experience can be lunch with local women in a traditional mud-brick home, providing an opportunity to experience everyday life and Moroccan hospitality at a personal level. Alternatively, take a slower approach and relax at your accommodation, enjoying the swimming pool, palm groves and spectacular limestone cliffs surrounding the valley.

Day 7: Todra Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou

Today, continue west through the spectacular landscapes of southern Morocco. The journey takes you past ancient kasbahs, historic settlements and dramatic mountain scenery before reaching Ouarzazate, often known as the “Hollywood of Africa” thanks to its long association with international film productions.

Depending on time and interest, you may visit the Atlas Film Studios and discover some of the sets used in famous productions.

Continue to Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its narrow lanes, earthen architecture and historic kasbahs with your guide while learning about its role in the ancient trans-Saharan trade routes. After breakfast, leave Essaouira and travel inland towards Marrakech.
