Mount Toubkal Trek

300£ per person

Go on a nice 4 days Mount Toubkal Trek which goes through some berber villages.  you climb up mount toubkal 4167m which is the highest peak in North Africa and in Morocco.

The Mount Toubkal Trek itinerary is as follows:

On the first day, our driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech. Then, you drive to the starting point of the Trek where you will meet our local team. It will take around 1h30 drive. Once you get there, you set off trekking towards Tizi oudid pass ( around 2100m). from where you will enjoy amazing views over the azzaden valley. After lunch , you will carry on walking to Tizi Oussem village where you will spend the night at a lodge. around 5h walk.

 

The next day, you will have an early breakfast, and walk towards Imlil valley passing via Tizi Mzik pass ( around 2489m). Then, you will walk downhill to Imlil where you will spend the night at a guesthouse. around 5h walk.

 

On the third day, you will walk from imlil to the basecamp 3207m passing via chamharouch shrine. where you will spend the night at a refuge. It will take around 5 to 6h walk.

 

The last day, you will climb up to mount toubkal 4167m from where you will enjoy breathtaking views over the high atlas mountains peaks. It will take around 3h up to the summit, and around 2h30 back down to the basecamp. Then, you stop for lunch before you return back to Imlil valley via the same route. Today, It will be a total of 9 to 10h walk. Once you get back to Imlil, you will have a mint tea before transfer back to Marrakech. It takes around 1h30 drive.

Day 1: Marrakech - Aguersioual - Tizi Oudid pass - Tizi oussem village.
Departure from Marrakech for a pleasante drive south winding our way up through the Moulay Brahim gorge and upper valleys to arrive at the higher foothills of the western High Atlas Mountains and our trailhead of Imi oughlad (1450m) with the jbel Toubkal , at 4167m the highest peak in North Africa , Aglzim 3650m and Aksoual 38847m ,looming before us . here we alight from our vehicle and meet up with berber muleteer crew . We set off up in north-westerly direction for a 2hour acclimatisation hike up switchback mule tracks , passing by cornfields woods pine and juniper to the Tiz oudid pass (2100m),where we shall stop to look back down on the imlil and Ait ouazaden valleys before carrying on for another half hour to our field picnic .thence a slow hike for about 2 and half hours south-west down along a dirt track to assif n’ Ait ouazaden and the red clay terraced village of Tizi oussem ( 1850 m )for our accommodation in local Berber House

Day 2: Tizi Oussem - Tizi Mzik pass - Imlil valley.
After an early breakfast, we will walk from Tizi Oussem towards Imlil valley passing via Tizi Mzik pass from where you will enjoy amazing views over imlil valley & Azzaden valley. Carry on walking downhill to imlil where you will spend the night at a guesthouse. around 5h walk.

Day 3: Imlil - Toubkal Refuge.
After breakfast, you will set out for a 4 km hike towards the shout up to the Berber villages of Aremd (1843m) taourirt, and targa imoula, we shall stop at armed to visit this rather singular village in the Assif Ait Maizane Valley, built seemingly house upon house .We then carry on to the equally-quaint village of sidi Chamharouch, a Berber village set beside a waterfall and small stream. We take a break for a lunch, within full view of mighty Jbel Toubkal at 4167m the highest peak in the Maghreb. Our last stretch of the day takes us to our overnight accommodation, at the Toubkal Refuge. 5 to 6h walk.

Day 4: Refuge - Toubkal summit - Refuge - Imlil - Marrakech
During this day, you will make the ascent of the highest point of the Maghreb. However, this climb does not present major difficulties. The last peak of Toubkal is wide and the climb is less steep in the approach to the summit. You will marvel at the cliffs that overlook the other side of the lake d'Ifni. After getting off the highest point of the North Africa, you will return back to the Refuge where you will have lunch before walking back down to imlil via the same route. Once you get to imlil, transfer back to Marrakech. around 9h walk in total. 1h30 drive
