ITINETARY:

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil valley 1740m.

The day begins shortly after breakfast with a transfer from your Marrakech accommodation.

Upon arrival in Imlil, you will check in to your mountain lodge, which will serve as your base. Following this, you will be introduced to our dedicated local mountain team.

The adventure starts with an easy loop hike (approx. 6 hours). This route offers a quiet sense of remoteness, following less-trafficked paths.

As you ascend, you will observe the landscape transforming. The woodland gradually gives way to open terrain, rewarding you with expanding vistas across the Mizane Valley. The climb continues steadily past traditional grazing pastures and simple shepherd shelters.

The ultimate goal of the ascent is the Isk Summit (2520m). From this peaceful perch, you will enjoy a spectacular panorama, featuring the formidable Mount Toubkal and its neighbouring peaks.

After a well-deserved rest and time to take in the views, the descent begins, leading you back through the forest towards the notable village of Aroumd. Perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop, Aroumd is the largest and one of the most historic Berber settlements in the area, famous for its traditional stone houses seemingly built into the hillside.

From Aroumd, you will follow a gentle valley path back to your lodge in Imlil, arriving in the mid to late afternoon. Once the hike is complete, there will be ample time to refresh and unwind before gathering for a celebratory farewell dinner

Day 2: Imlil valley 1740m – Tizi n’tamatert pass 2284m – Talamrout summit 2600m – Imlil valley 1740m – Marrakech.

This morning, you will depart your lodge in Imlil and immediately begin a challenging ascent. The first stage involves a steady climb out of the Mizane Valley towards the Tizi Ntamatert Pass (2284m).

As you gain elevation, the trail offers a deep immersion into local life, passing through several traditional Berber hamlets. Here, you will observe the timeless sight of stone houses hugging the slopes and mules serving as the primary means of transport. The path continues to rise, weaving through beautiful terraced fields and dense stands of juniper and pine. Numerous switchbacks grant ever-widening perspectives over the vibrant Imlil region.

Upon reaching the Tizi Ntamatert Pass, you are treated to a stunning view looking down into the tranquil Imenane Valley.

From the pass, the route becomes more demanding as you leave the well-trodden track and tackle a more exposed climb towards the summit of Talmroute (2600m). The final section is steep in certain areas, but the effort is fully justified by the spectacular reward. At the top of Talmroute, you are met with a magnificent 360-degree panorama. On clear days, the sight includes the majestic, often snow-dusted, peak of Mount Toubkal dominating the southwest horizon, alongside the sprawling ridgelines of the Imenane and Azzaden Valleys.

After pausing at the summit for rest and photographs, you will commence your descent. The return journey takes a varied, looping path, guiding you through contrasting landscapes—from rugged rocky ridges and fragrant pine forests down to the fertile, cultivated valley slopes leading back to Imlil.

Once you arrive back at the lodge in Imlil Valley, you will collect your luggage. Following this, a private transfer will be waiting to take you directly back to your accommodation in Marrakech, concluding your mountain experience. That’s the end of our easy 2 days Atlas Mountains hike.
