Escape Marrakech and discover the spectacular High Atlas Mountains on this rewarding 2-day trek from Marrakech. Based in the beautiful Imlil Valley, this short adventure combines scenic mountain trails, traditional Berber villages, highaltitude summits and panoramic views of Mount Toubkal.

Your adventure begins with a transfer from Marrakech to Imlil at 1,740m. From here, trek through the peaceful Tidli Forest and traditional mountain landscapes before ascending to Isk Summit at 2,520m. Enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Toubkal and the surrounding peaks before descending through the historic Berber village of Aroumd and returning to your mountain lodge in Imlil.

On day two, climb from Imlil towards Tizi n’Tamatert Pass at 2,284m, passing traditional Berber hamlets, terraced fields and juniper and pine forests. Continue towards Talamrout Summit at 2,600m, where spectacular 360- degree views stretch across the Imenane and Azzaden Valleys, with Mount Toubkal visible on clear days.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Marrakech – Imi Oughlad (1,400m) – Tizi n’Tacht Pass (2,100m) – Tizi Oussem (1,900m)

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech at approximately 8:30 AM. From the city, enjoy a scenic 1-hour-15-minute drive south into the High Atlas Mountains, arriving at Imi Oughlad (1,400m), the starting point of your trek. Here, you will meet your local mountain team and take some time to enjoy a traditional cup of Moroccan tea before setting off on foot.

The trail gradually climbs through the mountain landscape towards Tizi n’Tacht Pass (2,100m). As you gain altitude, the scenery opens up to reveal beautiful views across the Imlil and Azzaden valleys, with rugged peaks and traditional Berber villages scattered across the slopes.

After reaching the pass, take a short break to enjoy the panoramic scenery before continuing along the trail towards your lunch stop. Your local cook will prepare a fresh, delicious meal, giving you time to relax and recharge surrounded by the mountains.

After lunch, continue trekking along a rugged mountain track towards Tizi Oussem, a traditional Berber village situated at approximately 1,900m. Upon arrival, settle into a welcoming Berber lodge and enjoy a peaceful evening in the heart of the High Atlas.

Day 2: Tizi Oussem (1,900m) – Tizi Mzik Pass (2,489m) – Imlil (1,740m) – Marrakech

After an early breakfast, begin your final day with a steady uphill climb towards the spectacular Tizi Mzik Pass (2,489m).

The trail gradually ascends through the rugged mountain terrain, with the surrounding landscape becoming increasingly dramatic as you gain elevation. Upon reaching the pass, take a well-deserved break and enjoy breathtaking views over Imlil Valley and the surrounding High Atlas peaks.

After your break, begin the descent towards Imlil, following the trail down through the mountain landscape and into the greener valley below. On arrival in Imlil, enjoy a well-earned lunch before meeting your private driver for the journey back to Marrakech. The scenic drive takes approximately 1.5 hours, bringing you back to the Red City and marking the end of your twoday Atlas Mountains trekking experience.

How difficult is the 2-day Atlas Mountains Trek?

The trek involves around 5 hours of walking
each day, including uphill and downhill
sections and two mountain passes: Tizi

hiking shoes are recommended.

What villages and valleys will we visit during the trek?

to Marrakech is included. The drive to the
starting point takes approximately 1 hour and
15 minutes, while the return journey from Imlil
takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Is a guide and mule for luggage included?

Yes. The tour includes a local guide and a
mule for luggage, as well as accommodation,
food and transportation. This means you can
enjoy the trek without having to carry your
main luggage yourself
