Tour Plan

Day 1: Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Tinzert

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. From the city, travel south towards the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, reaching Imi Oughlad at approximately 1,450m.

Here, you will meet your local Berber mountain guide and muleteer before leaving the vehicle and beginning your trek. The trail gradually climbs through the peaceful landscapes of the Ouirgane National Park, making this a gentle and rewarding introduction to the Atlas Mountains. The scenery here is distinctly different from the higher peaks, with rolling terrain, fragrant juniper forests, and striking copper and green tones across the hillsides. As you walk deeper into the countryside, you will pass traditional Berber settlements and enjoy a tranquil atmosphere far from the bustle of Marrakech.

By afternoon, arrive at the small rural Berber village of Tinzert, where you will spend the night in a traditional local gîte. Enjoy a warm Moroccan dinner and the peaceful atmosphere of village life.

Day 2: Tinzert – Ait Aissa – Azzaden Valley

After breakfast, leave Tinzert and continue deeper into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. Today’s trek takes you towards the magnificent Azzaden Valley, one of the most beautiful and remote valleys in the region.

The trail follows the valley through an increasingly dramatic landscape, accompanied by the sound of a lively mountain stream. Lush walnut groves line the valley, providing welcome shade as you walk through traditional Berber villages and terraced fields.

As you gain ground, the surrounding mountains become more imposing, with magnificent views towards Mount Toubkal and the neighbouring peaks at the head of the valley.

Continue along the valley towards Ait Aissa, a peaceful Berber village surrounded by rugged mountain scenery. Upon arrival, settle into a traditional village gîte and enjoy a well-earned evening meal while experiencing the warm hospitality of the local community.

Day 3: Ait Aissa – Tizi n'Mzik Pass – Imlil – Marrakech

After breakfast, begin the day’s trek with an impressive ascent out of the Azzaden Valley. The trail climbs gradually towards Tizi Oussem, following the rugged mountain slopes and offering increasingly expansive views over the valley below.

From Tizi Oussem, continue climbing towards the Tizi n’Mzik Pass at 2,489m, the highest point of today’s trek. The ascent is rewarding, with spectacular views unfolding across the surrounding peaks and valleys as you gain altitude.

After reaching the pass, begin the descent towards Imlil, following the trail down into the lush Mizane Valley. The landscape gradually changes as you descend, with terraced fields, villages, and mountain orchards appearing along the route.
