When to Hike in Morocco

The High Atlas is covered in snow during winter from the months of November to April, specifically in areas at higher elevations. Even though this will give you stunning landscapes with the beauty of winter all around you, the hike itself also becomes trickier, which requires more experience and equipment. Hiking in winter also requires you to hire a guide and use ice axes and crampons for added safety.
Hiking in the Anti-Atlas Mountains
If you’re eyeing to hike the Anti-Atlas Mountains, the most ideal time to do so is during spring from March to May. Mild weather combined with the vibrant flora make for an amazing trek. The season is also perfect if you wish to enjoy off-the-beaten trails and simply take in the verdant greenery all around.
The Anti-Atlas tends to get quite hot during summer, even more so in lower elevations. But you will find the higher trails more bearable and accessible as well. But since the heat may get intense, it is imperative to protect yourself from the sun and stay hydrated at all times.
Autumn is also a pleasant time to hike because of the smaller crowds of tourists and the cooler temperatures. The season offers ideal trekking conditions where you can witness as the landscape changes colors.
