Toubkal circuit Trek

This is a very special hike in the high atlas mountains. It is a 6 days Toubkal circuit trek around Mt Toubkal. With a number of fabulous passes, stunning campsites and of course the peak of Toubkal to contend with, this isn’t a trek for the light hearted.

However, Toubkal Circuit route is a 6 days trek across the high Atlas Mountains that combines scenic vistas with time to discover Berber culture. Moreover, you will become engrossed in typical Berber life from the first day of the journey as you observe the inhabitants working in their terraced fields and taking care of their livestock. Then, early starts and rigorous hiking days required by this plan, which requires moving from camp to camp every day. After, we will be recompensed with numerous excellent photo chances, particularly at the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4167m). After a long day, you can unwind with a cup of mint tea in a small cafe or go swimming in Lac D’ifni 2295m.

Day one:

After breakfast, we depart from Marrakech and go through Asni to Imlil. Besides, Imlil, a bustling market town, is where most hikers begin their trails. However, people are constantly coming down from the mountains, and there is an equal amount of activity from those who are prepared to set out on their adventure. After our gear is loaded onto the mules, we meet them and start walking through the valley toward Tacheddirt. The trail soon starts to ascend as we ascend to the pass at Tizi n’Tamatert (2,279m). Then, after a little ascent to the charming village of Ouaneskra, we descend to Tacheddirt (2,300m). we typically set up tent next to the river. 5h walk

Day two:

We start a long, laborious rise to the pass at Tizi Likemt after crossing the valley (3,555m). There is a lot of loose scree on the ground, making the going fairly difficult. Before making the long descent to the settlement of Azib Likemt, where we set up camp for the night. we enjoy our first beautiful glimpse of the Toubkal massif at the summit. 6h walk.

Day three:

You go through a range of very different landscapes on this lengthy but rather simple day. We have more views of the Toubkal mountain, including the summit, the east face, and the Ifni Dome, from Tizi n’Ououraine (3,120m) (3,876m). The route continues into Amsouzert, one of the most remarkable villages in the area. we spend the night in a basic village hostel. 6 to 7h walk.

Day four:

As we move towards Ifni Lake, the sole lake in the mountain, we pass through many small towns west of Amsouzert. It is an extraordinarily profound scene, surrounded by rugged mountains and enormous piles of debris. By midday, we hope to be there, and then spend the afternoon lounging by the water. We set up camp here for the night. 4h walk.

Day five:

by this point, we ought to be prepared to face the toughest day of the walk because we are fit and acclimated. Start by ascending a slope of scree that appears to go on forever by climbing a steep trail. We eventually arrive at the pass at Tizi n’Ouanoums (3,664m), a small ledge positioned between two rock shafts. We spend the night at Nelter Hut, a mountain refuge, after a protracted zigzagging descent from here (or alternatively camp outside). 6 to 7h walk.

Day six:

We set out early in the morning, using a well-traveled path to the summit. Reaching the peak, where we take in vast views of the entire Atlas range and the plains beyond Marrakech. It shouldn’t take longer than 2-3 hours if the weather is favourable. After returning to the starting point, we quickly descend to the towns of Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd before continuing over a heavily forested track that follows the Mizane River to the trailhead at Imlil. At the end of the day, you will be driven to Marrakech if you are staying there. 9 to 10h walk. That’s the last day of our Toubkal circuit Trek.

If you want to do a short trek, we suggest this 5 days Toubkal Trek.
